Millicent Lee | Suboo Journal
This month, we virtually sat down with the incredible and diverse Millicent Lee.
Inspired by a changing world this February we presented ‘ODYSSEY SS21’ a new collection of modern and luxurious pieces made to journey through life with. With the launch of Odyssey, we had the privilege of working with Millicent Lee as one of our leading models. Her style, grace and elegance encapsulated the collection and we couldn’t have imagined the shoot without her. In celebration of the launch it only seemed fitting we introduced you to our muse, Millicent.
I’m also a medical student and an English lit essay tutor. Right now, I’m three years away from being a doctor.
What star sign are you and is it accurate to your personality?
I’m a cancer through and through. Their vibe is “don’t f*ck with me” on the outside, but they’re a softy on the inside. They’re creative, caring and feel deeply. Which means they’ve gone through some emotional times but have a lot of empathy and understanding for others. I think that’s why I love teaching and mentoring roles... and want to one day work in mental health or women’s and children’s health.
How did your modelling career start?
The classic sliding into the DMs - of my agency that is.
You have already achieved so much in your modelling career – what is next for Millicent?
The modelling goal is London or New York. For now it’s staying home where it’s safe and focusing on this year of medical school while modelling when I can.
What is your favourite quote to live by?
Don’t let the bastards grind you down - Margaret Atwood
What do you do to unwind when you’re not working?
Recently, going for a swim, watching films, working on little art projects, and writing for my university magazine. I’m always getting inspired and when I get an idea I put it instantly into a note on my phone, or a poem, or a drawing or painting, or anything that captures that feeling or thought or image in my head.
What has been the biggest highlights of your modelling career?
Highlights from last year include walking the runway for the first time and my first cover which was for 10magazine. I’m still quite new to modelling and I feel so lucky to have such supportive agents and friends in the industry.
