We caught up with creative duo Lisa and Tim from Jims & Kittys to talk all things inspiration and travel. The gypset couple took a few favourite ‘La Vacanza’ styles along for their latest travels, giving us all the holiday feels.
Like us, you love culture and travel, is that how @jimsandkittys came about? Absolutely! Art, Culture, Travels, Hotels and living every single day to the fullest, Gypset (gypsy + jet set) - that's what we're about!
How long have you been practising your craft? We started @jimsandkittys roughly 6 years ago.
Who are your top three biggest inspirations? Probably life itself. Traveling, meeting people coming from different cultures and backgrounds. We love India. India is a very inspiring place, same as Bali. It's hard to pick three inspirations, there are many authors, photographers, painters and artists in general that inspire us. To name a few we love Jürgen Teller, Slim Aarons, Sorrenti...
Biggest career highlight so far? There are a few things to be proud of I guess. Sometimes you have to pinch yourself and say that already living the life we are able to live is a highlight itself every single day but 3 things have been super special... My Master Thesis about Frida Kahlo, (Lisa, styling, concept, creative direction) got published on Vogue.it / talents section 2016 and right after it got published at Victoria & Albert Museum London, 2018 in their accompanying exhibition Frida book. We are also very excited about partnerships with brands such as Armani, Calvin Klein, Jean Paul Gaultier and Maison Martin Margiela. We loved shooting the backstage story for Emporio Armani FW 18/19 in Milan.
What are your top three travel destinations and why? Bali, New York and Formentera/ Ibiza. Bali, as you can plainly see, our happy place. It's a place for your soul, a destination where you are allowed to breathe. The people, the sunsets, the food, the waves - ugh, everything about this island! New York is the one city - how can one not love this vibe?! We'd love to live between NYC and Bali. Formentera is a place (Lisa) has kinda grown up with. We love to stay close to nature - we are island people at heart!
How do you wind down after a big shoot day? Aperitivo, when in Italy haha! Otherwise a cup of hot ginger tea. We definitely try to drift into another world then, I love to practice yoga, Tim loves to watch a good movie.
Upcoming travel plans? Many! For June / July we plan Formentera / Ibiza / Tuscany / Paris / Greece and of course Bali! But also a few other destinations on the list for the next months! :)
